Motorclassica 2012

I hope that somebody else also writes a report on this event as no doubt my views are biased, as my main love is for Veteran and Vintage cars and definitely not loud and brash American vehicles. While I can see that some people would like them and are prepared to pour a vast amount of money into their restoration it is just not my cup of tea.

Having now got that off my chest I must say that this event was not to be missed, the array and diversity of the cars was something to behold. The workmanship that had gone into making the cars what they are today must, in many instances, have made the manufacturers look on and wonder why they had not originally finished their cars to that level. Many cars were better presented than they would ever have come off the production line.

I visited this event with my brother in-law and even before we got inside he thought that he had had a great day looking at all the cars on the forecourt. One notable car was an early Rolls Royce that had never been restored and had only driven minimal miles. Inside the Exhibition Buildings it was yet another feast looking over many cars some of which I knew and meeting up with many people from the Historic Car movement.

All in all a great day outing and one that should not be missed, but if you go next year allow plenty of time as it took us about six hours to get a good fill of this event, but admittedly some of this time was spent talking with friends. I think a few photographs will tell the story better than I can.
